Good Sammy Fremantle Op Shop & Containers For Change

Good Sammy is a social enterprise focused on providing meaningful employment opportunities and pathways for Western Australians with disability. Everything we do is motivated by this purpose, and has been since we were founded in 1958. Our vision is a better future for people with disability and we believe creating inclusive workplaces is the foundation for an inclusive society.

At Good Sammy we offer a variety of structured development programs and employment choices to encourage people living with a disability to explore life. We empower people to make their own choices so they can identify their goals, feel connected to their community and be supported as they work towards independence and meaningful employment.

What we do
At Good Sammy we currently employ more than 265 supported staff in a variety of roles. Our 27 op shops, located from Albany to Geraldton, are the public face of our organisation and allow Supported Employees to explore opportunities in the retail industry, as well as process the generous donations we receive from the community. We reduce waste and help the environment by recycling 6 million kg of used goods each year and as an official collection organisation for the Containers for Change program.

The Good Sammy community of businesses and partners is here to support you too. Our community is the heart of all we do and reminds us that we are capable of so much more than we believe. For more than 60 years we have partnered with Participants to reach their employment goals. Their success has been our success. Their dreams have been our dreams. Now it’s your turn, and when you achieve your goals, we’ll celebrate with you. Come and be part of our community, we look forward to being on the journey with you.

Our Fremantle Store is located on the Fremantle op shop strip, along with RSPCA WA’s Reloved store, Salvos and Vinnies Shop, so our customers can make a day of second-hand shopping before visiting the bounty of nearby eateries and iconic Fremantle landmarks. The Good Sammy Fremantle Op shop is known for its Gold Seal selection and unique clothing items. We often have sales on branded items, and our orderly placement of stock makes for an easy thrift shopping experience!

While Good Sammy’s core purpose is to provide meaningful employment opportunities and pathways for Western Australians with disabilities, our Fremantle op shop also gets satisfaction out of supporting members of their local community by collaborating with St Pat’s Community Support Centre.

When you visit, bring us your drink containers to recycle! Bag them and drop them off through our Containers For Change bag drop service. We'll count them and send your EFT refund via your scheme ID.

By shopping, donating or volunteering with us, you’re helping us empower people with disabilities to make their own choices so they can identify their goals, feel connected to their community and be supported as they work towards independence and meaningful employment.
